ATTENTION!

It finally happened! We have a gig at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas on APRIL 17th, 2004 from 8 PM to 12AM. Thank to Jerry’s perseverance, we finally got the gig we wanted. The owner told us that Sagebrush draws between 400 to 500 people on the weekend. With our people, the crowd will be huge! We will be playing all the favorite rock and roll tunes all the way from the 50s to today. Prepare to drink and dance your ass off!

By the way, Calabasas is the camping ground of celebrities outside of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Don’t be surprised if you see a few familiar faces, including Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey ;-)

Cherokee Wisdom

An elderly Cherokee man was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside of me; it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other wolf is joy, peace, love, hope sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person too."

They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee replied simply,
"The one you feed."

It was 40 years ago today that the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show and “conquered” America. If my information is correct, 70 million people watched that the Ed Sullivan show that day. That’s more people than those who watch the Super Bowl! You hear people say that that day was a turning point in American pop and even non-pop culture. Ah, how I wish I were around then to experience that day!

I keep having this recurring dream that JP and I are getting ready to perform in front of an audience but I’m worried that something will go wrong. Invariably, something does go wrong and we embarrass ourselves! It may not sound like a big deal but it is in the dream.

Speaking of performances, the guy at Sagebrush left a message for Jerry stating that the requirements for us to play include: we have to bring 300 of our own guests AND we have to play “new” songs only. What??? The place is always crowded. Even if we brought 300 people, where would they fit??? Plus, what they hell is “new” music anyway? Brittney Spears? 50 Cents? Even if we played all “new” music, how many “new” songs are out there to fill in a 5-hour show??? And what difference does it make what we play if we can drive the place crazy?

The world in general doesn't know what to make of originality; it is startled out of its comfortable habits of thought, and its first reaction is one of anger. -W. Somerset Maugham, writer (1874-1965)
